Randi C. Martin, Elma Schneider Professor, received the 2024 Clifford T. Morgan Award for Distinguished Leadership from the Psychonomic Society on November 24, 2024 at its annual meeting in New York City. The Chair of the Governing Board, Stephen Lewandowsky, presented the award. The award is given to individuals who demonstrate a commitment to scientific and methodological rigor among the community of researchers at the forefront of the experimental study of cognition. Recipients must also demonstrate commitment and dedication to developing and advancing the Psychonomic Society in its mission to foster the science of cognition through the advancement and communication of basic research in experimental psychology.
To honor Professor Martin for receiving the Psychonomic Society Clifford T. Morgan Distinguished Leadership Award, the Rice Psychological Sciences department hosted a reception on November 23, 2024 at the society’s annual meeting. The photos from the reception show Martin responding to a toast given by Professor Simon Fischer-Baum and Martin with Professor Suparna Rajaram, a 1991 Rice Psychology Ph.D., from Stony Brook University, who was a previous winner of the award. Martin and Rajaram, together with Professor Judith Kroll (UC Irvine) co-founded the Women in Cognitive Science organization in 2000.
